Studying courses in Biology and related areas abroad

Biochemistry

Biochemistry is the branch of science that explores the chemical processes within and related to living organisms. It is a laboratory-based science that brings together biology and chemistry. By using chemical knowledge and techniques, biochemists can understand and solve biological problems.

  • Biochemistry and Biology BSc (Hons), Keele University
  • Biochemistry BSc (Hons), University of Glasgow
  • Biology and Criminology BSc (Hons), Keele University
  • Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, La Trobe University
  • Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, La Trobe
  • Bachelor of Science Majoring in Biochemistry, The Australian National University
  • Biochemistry (including Preliminary Year) BSc (Hons), Cardiff University

Neuroscience

The human brain has been called the most complex object in the known universe, and in many ways, it’s the final frontier of science. A hundred billion neurons, close to a quadrillion connections between them, and we don’t even fully understand a single cell.

Neuroscience aims to understand how a person arises out of a clump of squishy matter. It’s where psychology meets biology. And with new tools at our disposal—computer simulations, medical imaging—we double our knowledge every decade.

  • Biochemistry and Neuroscience BSc (Hons), Keele University
  • Bachelor of Science (Honours) Specialising in Biology, The Australian National University
  • Bachelor of Science (Honours) Specialising in Neuroscience, The Australian National University

Marine Biology and Wildlife conservation

Marine biologists study organisms that live in an ocean or sea environment. Most time in marine and wildlife conservation is spent in the field, analysing data to advance understanding of the fauna of this world. Animal behaviour, marine biotechnology, marine biology offer many areas of specialisations.

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Marine Science, Murdoch University
  • Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Conservation Biology, La Trobe
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Conservation and Wildlife Biology, Murdoch University, Australia
  • Bachelor of Science (Animal Behaviour), University of Adelaide
  • Marine Biology BSc (Hons), University of Liverpool
  • Bachelor of Science (Marine Biology), University of Adelaide
  • Bachelor of Science (Honours) Specialising in Earth and Marine Science, The Australian National University
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.), University of West Florida
  • Biological Sciences with a Year Abroad BSc (Hons), Swansea University

Genetics and Evolutionary

Genetics involves the study of the structure and function of genes and how we can use this knowledge to improve society. It is generally considered a field of biology but intersects frequently with many other life sciences. Geneticists work in different areas such as inherited diseases, cancer research, design of new antibiotics, genetic engineering with a focus on both plant life and animal life. Biochemistry, molecular biology and biomedical science also intermingle with this course and it involves a lot of lab work.

  • Bachelor of Genetics, The Australian National University
  • Bachelor of Arts majoring in Human Evolutionary Biology, The Australian National University
  • Bachelor of Science Majoring in Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology, The Australian National University
  • Anatomy and Human Biology BSc (Hons), University of Liverpool
