The amount of resources that are required for a research environment are severely limited in India. On the other hand, the research expenditure in foreign universities amounts to millions of dollars. Moreover, by studying in a foreign university, I will get exposure to the global community as I will be able interacting and working with people from all around the world which on the contrary, I won’t get in India. The University of Michigan offers one of the best courses in Mechanical Engineering across the globe. The professors at UMich are pioneers in their fields. I feel that interacting with them, I will be able to grow more and become a good Mechanical Engineer. Moreover, UMich offers several courses which are relevant to my field of Interest, which is materials, thus helping me finalize it. To get selected in the university of my choice, As such, there was no particular mode of action. But yes, I made multiple changes to my essays and got it reviewed by people studying in the US. Their inputs greatly helped me to refine my essay which ultimately got me into my dream university. Yes, I could have submitted the applications earlier; this is the thing I could have done better. As universities review applications on the basis of first come basis, I was at a disadvantage since I submitted my applications late and I believe due to this I got rejected from safe universities which otherwise I could have easily got into keeping in view my credentials.
