A SIT DOWN WITH OUR STUDENT: PANKHURI AGGARWAL

There are many who aspire to reach great heights of success. With sheer grit and determination, coupled with hard work and good luck, one can make it to the top of the ladder. The only prerequisite is- Never give up. You must put your back into it.

We at PPRO EED , we proud of all our students, who make it abroad, into great universities , and ensure a successful career trajectory for themselves.

One such success story belongs to Pankhuri, who has been invited to NUS Singapore.

Here are excerpts from her interview with us, after her successful result.
Mallika: Pankhuri, What ignited the spark in you to pursue your undergrad abroad ? How did the idea for your decision come about?

Pankhuri: From an early age, I wanted to pursue my studies abroad. I have always focused on holistic development and I believe that universities like NUS, where I’ll be pursuing my undergraduate education from, promise this.
M: What do you feel is the major difference between studying in one’s own country and abroad ?

P: Exposure, opportunities and really, learning. At the end of the day, for me it all comes down to how much I learnt from my experience, and I believe an education abroad teaches me more in various aspects.
M: What three pieces of advice would you give to students who want to apply abroad?

P: The most important thing is to Start early.

Also, Don’t get disappointed too easily

Explore all your options.
M: What have been some of your failures, and what have you learnt from them?

P: Failure for me means not being able to perform to the best of my capabilities. I believe ,by this definition, I fail various times each day in different activities. Each of them just helps me to focus on succeeding in different activities, thus, helping me grow as an individual.
M: Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming a successful student ?

P: I have learnt there’s no shortcut to becoming a successful student. I wouldn’t describe myself as a perfect student, but in my quest to become one, I have learnt that an important trick is to try and achieve a perfect combination of hardwork and smart work.
M: If you could have given yourself a piece of knowledge or advice when you started what would that be? Which opportunities should you have followed; what pitfalls would you have avoided?

P: Like I said, I would have started planning and working early for my education abroad. I was lucky that most of the activities I pursued, fell well in my applications. However, I believe if I would have started early, I could have done better in my standardized tests and more importantly, been more confident about my application.
M: What exams did you appear for?

P: SAT, IELTS, APs, SAT subject tests and many Olympiads.
M: How did you build your profile for college applications ? Is it something that needs focus right from school days?

P: Everything starts from the school days. Initially, try and participate in every activity so that you can find your interests and then, excel in them. It’s important to have a some exposure in various categories ( like sports, community service, leadership skills etc) as all of these will form parts of your application but most importantly, you must excel in one skill. Nowadays, universities are looking for people who are not only the jack of all traits but also the master of one.
M: Who would you give a share of your success? Any mentor or guides that helped you along the journey ?

P: I believe that I’m truly indebted to every teacher, relative and friend who has been a part of my life because each of them has taught me something precious. Most importantly, my mother has always supported me. Aditi Gupta ma’am, my counsellor, has also played a pivotal role in guiding me and motivating me.
M: Where do you see yourself in next 10 years ?

P: As the CFO of a great company or a renowned economist, who’s still learning with each day!
