SUMMER SCHOOLS IN THE UNITED STATES

If you are preparing for the undergraduate course in US then attending a summer school in US provides you opportunity of gaining valuable credits, experience of the US University and offers you an insight into what your future might be. Almost all colleges in US run summer courses for high school students (class 9-12).

The course offered by the various universities cover a wide panoramic range starting from creative writing, photography, astronomy, nano-technology, religion studies, literature in various languages to Greek mythology, stem cell research to origin of universe and list is endless. Not all courses are open to everyone and most of them have pre-requisites which one can find out online only.

Harvard offers almost 200 courses to student that are either 3 week or 7 week courses with average fee for seven week approximately US $ 5000 including all expenses. This varies a little bit as per the subject.

The University of Pennsylvania summer courses focus mainly in science stream. They range from Biomedical Chemistry Experimental Physics, social justice etc. Though program is non credit but is highly reputed and could a stepping stone to your college dreams. This is open for class 9-11 grades.

Stanford offers 250 courses in their 37 departments within the schools of Humanities and Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Engineering. Summer courses feature smaller class size, accessible instructors, and a diverse student body. The duration of the course is either 8 weeks or 9 weeks. The fees are approximately US $ 11000 including lodging food and tuition fees.

Yale College also offer summer program in various fields that are about 5 weeks duration and total cost comes about US $ 9000 including all expenses and these cover medical insurance also. In fact all the programs in US cover it.

Berkeley too offers summer courses for class 10th grade student with some restriction based on the subject you are looking for. In fact even teachers, housewives can also take these courses that are of 5 weeks duration. The summer schedule is available in early December for the subsequent year. Schedules are subject to change so keep checking.
